Think of a work which you like most in your daily routine and see for yourself that you don’t get fatigued. It will appear to you as if the time is flying but when you want to do something which you don’t like at all, every single minute passed will appear as if you have working on it for an hour.
Developing a routine to study is way too difficult for students, as they have ‘other’ things to do apart from studies. Yet it is not that difficult, as it appears to be, as I am going to give you some handy tips to improve your routine.
01: Mind Mapping
Mind mapping is the pictorial diction of brainstorming, a wonderful tool to organize your scattered thoughts. Given hereunder is a typical Mind Map to give you an idea what Mind Mapping is all about.
Start with the easy subjects you are comfortable with to study and brainstorm the topics in your mind and then translate them in the form of given sample template changing the titles and sub titles to all the branches of the Mind Map. This tool can be used in many ways to deal with your specific requirements.
Human mind can retain pictures more aptly then words, so try making use of pictures from Google Images to make a colorful representation of your thought process during brainstorming.
02: Avoid Procrastination
Usually, at this age, the students are busier than the Prime Minister, so they keep delaying their home assignments until the D-day, which adds disappointment to their overall performance.
Think of it this way, if you manage to start working on your assignments the moment they are handed into you, you will have ample time to think on it and fine tune it to the satisfaction of your teacher. If your teacher is excited to see your assignment submitted on time, you are bound to get good grades.
03: Make a Weekly Planner
In order to improve your grades, I would suggest you make several copies of the given Weekly Planner, as you would need two planners each week.
Fill in the Planned Weekly Planner two days before the start of the week [in as much detail as possible] as if you would be studying ideally with all sincerity.
As the week starts, fill in the blank planner sheet, exactly what you did during the day throughout the week on a daily basis.
At the end of the week compare the planned planner with the filled in planner [you filled during the entire week] and try finding the deviations in your planned activity and actual activity to judge yourself how much did you waste during the entire week and what needs to be improved to make effective use of the time available to you the next week for your studies.
04: Urgent vs Important Matrix
Make use of the matrix given to identify the important tasks and their urgency level to manage your time. At one point in time, not everything is supposed to be Urgent or Important, this identification will help you understand and differentiate between urgent and important and hence will provide you an opportunity to manage your time properly.
